ECU Remap County Durham

A proper ECU remap can transform a diesel — more torque, better mid-range punch, often better fuel economy. A bad one can damage your engine and invalidate your insurance. At Bluedot Autos in Newton Aycliffe we've been remapping engines across County Durham for years. Every map is verified on the dyno. Stage 1 from £279.

What an ECU Remap Actually Does

A proper ECU remap can transform a diesel — more torque, better mid-range punch, often better fuel economy. A bad one can damage your engine and invalidate your insurance. Diesel Stage 1 — Power, Torque & MPG Gains

Stage 1 is a software-only remap on a stock vehicle. It's the safe sweet spot for daily-driver diesels. Typical gains on a 2.0 TDI / dCi / TDCi engine: 30-50bhp, 60-90Nm of extra torque, often 3-5mpg better at motorway cruise. We do the work, log live data on the dyno, and hand you a printed before/after sheet.

Petrol Stage 1 & Stage 2 Remaps

Turbo petrols (B58, EA888, MultiAir, Theta II, Hyundai 1.6 T-GDI) respond brilliantly to a remap — sometimes 50-70bhp on Stage 1, more on Stage 2 with intake and exhaust upgrades. Naturally aspirated petrols see smaller gains, mostly in throttle response and rev-out feel. We'll be honest about what your specific engine will do before you commit.

Why Dyno Verification Matte

A remap without dyno verification is a guess. We log power, torque, AFR, EGT and boost during the run — we know exactly what we've delivered, you get the printout, and if anything's off we re-tune it before you drive away. Most local competitors don't dyno-verify their work. We do.

ECU Remapping FAQs

Is ECU remapping legal in the UK?

Yes — remapping a road-legal car for road use is legal in the UK, provided you declare the modification to your insurer (otherwise the policy can be voided). It's also your responsibility to ensure the vehicle still complies with emissions and noise rules.

Will a remap void my warranty?

On a manufacturer warranty, yes — modifying the ECU calibration almost always voids the powertrain warranty. We can reverse a remap to factory before you sell or take a vehicle in for warranty work. On a used car out of manufacturer warranty, there's nothing to void.

Will my insurance still cover me?

Yes, as long as you declare it. Most insurers will continue cover (sometimes with a small premium increase). Failing to declare is fraud and your policy will be void.

How long does a remap take?

Most Stage 1 remaps take 1-2 hours including the dyno verification run. You'll be in and out within half a day.

What gains will I see on my specific car?

Send us your reg and we'll come back same day with realistic numbers based on the engine, ECU and current state of tune. We won't overpromise.
